Forest Gin partners with Staffordshire pottery on porcelain bottle

Macclesfield-based ultra-premium small-batch Forest Gin has launched a redesigned bottle in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent pottery Wade Ceramics.

The new bottle will be the only gin available in English porcelain. It has a distinctive "rounded octagonal" shape and will be primarily made by hand at Wade's Staffordshire factory.

The design retains artist Suzy Taylor's papercut "weasel" design from the gin's previous releases in German stoneware.

Each of the new bottles will have the batch number written on it by hand.

Forest Gin was launched in January 2015 by husband and wife team, Karl and Lindsay Bond.

It is produced in ultra-small batches of around 80 bottles using locally foraged botanicals from Macclesfield Forest, including bilberries, raspberries, gorse flowers and moss.

Karl Bond said: "We have always been very proud of the original bottle, but the chance to change to Staffordshire Porcelain was just too good to miss.

"Everyone at Wade has been so helpful with the process, and to see the finished product is amazing. We truly believe that this is the world's most beautiful gin bottle and just hope that our customers agree with us!"

Lindsay Bond said: "Wade were set up as a small business back in 1810, providing bottles for the beer breweries of the time. For us to connect our family business with theirs feels really special, and it would be amazing if Forest Gin was still being produced in 100 year's time."

Forest Gin has an abv of 42% and is available nationwide through Harvey Nichols, the Conran Shop and a wide range of indepedent retailers.

It has listings in the on-trade with Heston Blumenthal's Hinds Head in Bray and Jason Atherton's Pollen Street Social, among others, and is served to first class customers on Virgin Trains.
