John Dewar launches new Aberfeldy expression

Published:  30 November, 2015

John Dewar & Sons, the whisky arm of global drinks giant Barcardi, is releasing a new 16-year-old expression for Aberfeldy.

The new single malt is entirely finished in premium Oloroso sherry casks. Its long 70-hour fermentation, an Aberfeldy trademark, encourages the creation of more esters, which give the whisky added fruitiness.

Built by John Alexander and Tommy Dewar in 1898, Aberfeldy is one of a last remaining distilleries in Perthshire. It is close to the birthplace of their father, John Dewar.

Aberfeldy sources its water from the Pitilie Burn, which is rich in mineral deposits including alluvial gold. It is known locally as the Golden Dram.

Aberfeldy 16 Years Old has an abv of 40% and will retail at £62.
