Cheltenham-based wine brand supplier Off Piste Wines has appointed Mark Elener to launch its international sales operation.

Cheltenham-based Off Piste Wines has appointed Mark Elener to launch its international sales operation.

Elener's appointment is part of the company's ambition to derive 20% of its business from outside the UK in the next five years.

Elener was previously sales director at Guy Anderson Wines. His role there also focused on building the company's brands in Europe, Asia-Pacific and South America.

Elener said: "I am really looking forward to leading this new chapter in Off Piste's development. Building a new arm of the business from scratch will not be easy but I have every confidence in the fantastic team and the plan.

"I can already see opportunities for their two newest brands, Most Wanted and The Duke, and look forward to building distribution of these and other wines."

Paul Letheren, joint managing director at Off Piste, welcomed Elener's appointment. "Our primary focus is to continue the growth we have achieved in the last five years in the UK," he said.

"As we develop a wider supply base and a larger portfolio, including a rolling programme of innovative brands, it makes sense to broaden our reach to other suitable markets.

"Mark's personality, expertise and proven ability over the last fifteen years are the perfect fit for us."

Off Piste's new wine brand, Most Wanted was launched at the London Wine Fair in May.

It has already won UK listings in the Co-Op, Conviviality, Booths, Sainsbury's and Tesco Wine By The Case.
