Yalumba supplier Negociants UK is to pit its New World wines against their Old World counterparts in a tutorial as a curtain-raiser to its annual free-pour Icon Release Tasting.
The event takes place on October 13 at London's Saatchi Gallery and Brokenwood chief winemaker and managing director Iain Riggs, Yalumba's Barossa red winemaker Kevin Glastonbury (pictured) and Negociants UK managing director Simon Thorpe MW will host the tutorial.
The free-pour tasting focuses on wines above the £15 retail mark from the Negociatns portfolio, including the following new releases to the UK market from Yalumba, including the new releases Yalumba Steeple Single Site Shiraz 2010 (rrp £36) and Yalumba FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Museum Release 2005 (rrp £30).
Thorpe said: "There will be an array of brilliant wines to taste, and it's seldom that we pull such a line-up together for a single event.
"The tutorial will provide a fascinating comparison between Old World and New World classics, and to taste them with a pair of legends will be special indeed.
"It is a time when, quite rightly, much attention is being focused on premium New World wines, and I sincerely hope this tasting will further enhance the trade's understanding of just how great these wines can be"
