The increase in the number of Spanish whites entrants and winners in particular is a testament to the rise in popularity of Spanish white wines in the UK. The success of Spanish whites in recent years is due impart to the foundation that was built almost two decades ago. Spanish producers in the late 1980s paved the way for by working to establish the Denominación di Origen for such regions like Rías Baixas (DO), which is now famous for its Albariño.
A tasting of the 102 wines is being held in the Autumn in central London and a comprehensive consumer guide to the winners will be produced and distributed at consumer wine fairs and independent wine merchants.
