New £4m Cotswolds distillery prepares to kick off whiskey production
The brand new £4 million Cotswolds Distillery, is preparing to kick off production with 5,000 bottles of its single malt whiskey available to reserve ahead of their 2017 release.
Casks, which will be laid down for a minimum of five years, are also available to pre-order and its first gin will be made in September.
Daniel Szor, whiskey aficionado and founder of the Cotswolds Distillery, is planning to produce in excess of 10,000 bottles per month at the site, using local barley malted in nearby Warminster. Szor is a marketing professional with over 25 years in investment sales experience. His most recent role was managing director of FX Concepts, which he held until last year.

The new build project, only the fifth distillery producing whiskey in England, has recruited Alex Davies as head distiller, Harry Cockburn as consultant master distiller and ageing expert Jim Swan.
The group aims to maintain the classic principles of whiskey making, while introducing new techniques to its state of the art Scottish and German precision-built stills.
The distillery houses two copper pot stills for whiskey from Forsyth: a 2,400 litre wash still, a 1,600 litre spirit still, as well as a 500 litre gin still from Holstein.
The first whiskey batch will comprise 300 litres of spirit going into barrels and 175 litres of high-proof gin (equivalent to over 400 70cl bottles at 46% abv).
The distillery will run six days per week and make 150,000 bottles of whiskey, 100,000 bottles of gin, brandy and other white spirits per year. It plans to use only organic ingredients, and is aiming to have sold 10,000 bottles of gin by the end of the year.
The distillery has purchased custom-made, re-charred American oak barrels and bourbon and sherry casks.
