Domaines Paul Mas acquires eighth vineyard in Languedoc
Domaines Paul Mas has acquired an eighth vineyard with the purchase of a 100-hectare property in Aude in the south of France.
Seventy hectares of La Ferrandiere are already planted with Cabernet-Sauvignon, Grenache, Malbec, Marselan, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Viognier. The site is located at Aigues-Vives in the Aude region, between Corbières and Minervois.

The company, which produces the Arrogant Frog range of wines, is launching a new tongue-in-cheek range for the UK called Striking French, which comes in a Viognier and Merlot, rrp £9.99.

The wines come from the IGP Pays d'OC and the vineyards are located in the Coteaux du Limousin in the cooler eastern side of the Languedoc.
It will also be releasing a more premium wine called Astelia, with a price tag of rrp £30, named after Jean Claude Mas's three daughters Astrid, Elisa and Apolline. The range includes Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in oak for 14 months, a Chardonnay and Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre blend.
The new wines will be available to taste at the France Under One Roof tasting on March 3, 2014 at the Lindley Hall in the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.
Domaines Paul Mas employs 105 people and in 2013 had sales of 40 million Euro. It exported 97% of its output to 58 countries. It sold 18 million 75cl bottles of wine. Throughout the Languedoc region it owns 478 hectares and has contracts with 70 growers for a further 1,285 ha of land.
