New Michelin Guide awards stars to top eateries

Published:  26 September, 2013

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2014 has awarded two London eateries, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and the Greenhouse in Mayfair, two Michelin stars each, while 15 other dining spots walked away with one star.

Heston Blumenthal said: "I am overjoyed. It's been an incredible two and a half years for Dinner and this is just simply the highlight. As a Brit, I am very proud that a restaurant inspired by and celebrating historic British cooking has been recognised today."

There were no changes to the three-star restaurants from last year. New one-star recipients in London include Story in Bermondsey, Lima in Regent's Park and Marylebone, Social Eating House in Soho, HKK in Shoreditch, Brasserie Chavot in Mayfair, Outlaw's at the Capital Hotel in Chelsea, Angler in Islington, Ametsa with Arzak Instruction in Belgravia and Bo London in Mayfair.

Around the UK and Ireland other newcomers to the Michelin one-star circle included Adam's in Birmingham, the Samling Hotel in Cumbria, Ormer by Shaun Rankin in Jersey, Wilks in Bristol, and Campagne and Lady Helen in Kilkenny.

The Michelin Guide's editor, Rebecca Burr, said: "The Michelin Guide has always reflected what's out there. In London there really is something for everyone and for every occasion, and there appears to be no end to the number of exciting new restaurant openings."

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2014 will be available in paperback on October 4 priced at £15.99.
