Arniston Bay, the South African wine brand, has extended its product range with Infusions, a new wine-based drink with an ABV of 5.5.%.
Launched in the UK this week, with an RRP of £4.99, Infusions is available in two flavours, Graviola and Passion Fruit, and Mint, Aloe and Lemongrass.
The 5.5% ABV level is said to make them "'refreshingly low alcohol" and also means the wine qualifies for the lower duty rate for wines with such a low alcohol level.
The Graviola and Passion Fruit variant is a "bubbly wine with fresh fruit aromas, following through to a full middle-palate, finishing in crisp freshness", said Arniston Bay winemaker Abraham de Villiers. Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, it has been lightly spritzed.
De Villiers describes the Mint, Aloe and Lemongrass variant as"'concentrated with a herbal, grassy character, thick-textured fruit and a bubbly personality". Also a lightly spritzed Sauvignon Blanc, it has a lemony, earthy taste.
Both drinks are infused with natural tastes only, and are free from artificial colouring. Their packaging is 100% recyclable.
The new drinks were born, according to Arniston Bay, out of "a response to the market demand for a premium-end wine-infused produc"'. They are positioned in the low-alcohol wine sector, rather than the ready-to-drink category, the company added.
