Multi-site indies form new merchants' group

Published:  15 August, 2013

A leading group of multi-site independent wine merchants has teamed up with Harpers to set up a new networking group to not only help each other but offer advice and support to the rest of the independent trade.

The new group, called the Independent Wine Crew, has come together to try and collectively cope with and benefit from the increasing demands and challenges facing independent wine merchants.

Harpers hopes to play its part in bringing interested merchants together to discuss ways in which they can work closer together, look at the experiences they can share and then offer wider advice and support through our Top Merchants initiative.

The merchants hope that by working closer together and promoting themselves as a united group they can gain more publicity through national wine columns and food and drink television programmes.

The new initiative is open to multi-site independent wine merchants who are willing to give up their time to be fully involved in making the group work, by sharing ideas and experiences, and offering advice and expertise on key trading issues with other wine merchants through written articles in Harpers or at networking events.

The initial members of the Independent Wine Crew are: Cambridge Wine Merchants, Corks Out, Hennings Wine Merchants, Jeroboams, the Oxford Wine Company, Red & White, the Sampler and Woodwinters.
