Judges lined up for Wines of Spain Awards 2013

Leading experts in Spanish wine from across the UK wine trade will meet early next month to choose this year's top 100 Spanish wines available in the UK.

Juding for the 2013 Wines from Spain Awards will incldue two days of blind tasting of over 800 Spanish wines by a panel of wine writers, national account buyers, MWs and restaurateurs. The competition is once again being chaired by Tim Atkin MW who will help the panel come up with the final list of a 100 wines.

"This is a cornerstone of our UK campaign. It provides the trade with an excellent steer on Spanish wine evolution as well as an opportunity to snap up some high performing wines. For the curious consumer it provides the perfect roadmap to Spain," said Maria José Sevilla, director of foods and wines from Spain.

This year to help promote the awards to the consumer a comprehensive guide of the top 100 wines will be produced the winners as well as information on Spanish wine which will be distributed at consumer wine fairs and through independent wine merchants.

The blind judging takes place between September 3-4 with the winners announced on September 27 where the trade will be able to taste the winners at RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London W1.
