Entrants have one month before the deadline of Wines of Germany's "Get it on..." competition, which aims to help German producers get their wines in front of key influencers and buyers in the UK market.
Get it on... will see a panel of high-profile judges, drawn from all sectors of the trade, hand select the wines they might want to start negotiations with to enter the UK market, from which the top six finalists will be invited to pitch to the judges in September.
The competition is based on the similar German Wine Marketing Initiative that Wines of Germany ran from 2000-2002, where producers won funding to make their marketing plans come to life and to get their wines onto the UK shelves in retailers such as Waitrose and Sainsbury's.
Nicky Forrest, UK managing director of Wines of Germany, said: "This is a hugely exciting competition aimed at getting some great new wines onto wine lists across the UK. Now, more than ever, there is a bunch of cracking German producers vying to get into the market and we felt it was time to revive the competition. Over the years our winners got their wines into Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Threshers and some of them are still around a decade later."
