Dom Pérignon has released its 2004 Blanc vintage from a 'near-perfect' harvest.

Dom Pérignon has released its 2004 Blanc vintage from a 'near-perfect' harvest.

According to chef de cave Richard Geoffroy, when compared with the 2003 harvest, 2004 was a year that "rolled effortlessly by".

Grapes were exposed to dry heat in their final weeks and "growing and fruit ripening periods went by smoothly, with no difficulties - a phenomenon that we have rarely, if ever, seen before", he said.

The Champagne is described as having aromas of almond and cocoa on the nose, which develops gradually into white fruit with hints of dried flowers, with toasted notes and a rounded finish.

Dom Pérignon 2004 will have an rrp of around £130.
