Leading trade figures from all sectors of the industry will debate the most efficient way to buy wine for their business as part of the Harpers Debate at next month's London International Wine Fair.

As the number of ways to source, buy and distribute wine increases seemingly by the month, Harpers will bring together a panel that will examine the most effective and efficient way of buying wine for different sectors of the business.

Andy Phelps, head of BWS at Sainsbury's will examine the different ways that major multiples are looking to source and buy wine; Simon Jerrome, wine purchasing director at Matthew Clark, will assess the changing buying needs of major wholesalers; Guy Adams, managing director, of Heritage Wine, will look at the buying needs of independent on-trade wholesalers; and  Jamie Hutchinson of The Sampler, will demonstrate the options for buying open to independent wine merchants.

Robin Copestick, co-founder will look at the increasing role of the wine broker that works with both buyer and seller; and Anya Robson, business manager of Murphy Wine, will examine the role bulk wine now has in global wine buying.

The session will be an open debate with comments and questions welcome from fair delegates.
