Tesco to engage with consumer via online wine community

Tesco is ramping up its consumer engagement outside of the supermarket aisles, with the launch of an online wine community.

The Tesco Wine Community uses social networking to encourage consumers to talk about wine, share knowledge and make recommendations. Targeting wine-interested consumers with varying levels of understanding about wine, it offers advice and access to its experts including Tesco product development managers Laura Jewell MW, James Griswood and Graham Nash. The supermarket's wine team will blog regularly on the forum.

Tesco will offer food and wine matching recommendations, competitions, a weekly wine suggestion, and a regular feature on the best of the wine bloggers from across the web.

Laura Jewell MW said: "The Tesco Wine Community has already attracted a wide range of discussions, proving that our customers want to learn more and share their thoughts on the bottle of wine they put in their supermarket trolley each week."
