Business panel announced for WSTA Conference

A panel of leading figures from the wine and spirit trade has been announced to round off this year's Wine and Spirit Trade Association, WSTA Conference on September 14.

The business panel is to include BBC business journalist Dominic Laurie, who will host a Q & A session covering the big issues facing the sector with a panel including: Nick Hyde, managing director, Diageo Wines Europe, Finn O'Driscoll,  managing director, Beverage Brands, Simon McMurtrie, chief executive, Direct Wines and Christian Rose, chief executive officer, G&J Greenall.


Health Secretary Andrew Lansley will give the keynote address at the event, which will be hosted by WSTA chairman Tim How.



Mr Lansley is leading the Government's Public Health Responsibility Deal designed to encourage businesses to make voluntary commitments aimed at tackling public health issues, including alcohol misuse.


The conference will feature the latest analysis of the UK market, with speakers from Nielsen and CGA strategy, and consider future consumer trends, with a presentation from Pula Houghton, head of economic policy for Which?



WSTA chief executive Jeremy Beadles will also set out the political and regulatory challenges expected to face the industry in the year ahead.
