Game on: Douglas Blyde samples the menu at the Jugged Hare

Published:  11 October, 2013

Judging by the tall wall of taxidermy behind the bar, mobile of hares strung over the stairs, and glass meat locker where a cleaver artfully bisects a pig's head, the Jugged Hare clearly caters to a carnivorous clientele.

Meet Georgina Reed, wine buyer, Morrisons

"As a buyer merchandising in under £5 and under£ 8, what is actually on the shelf the quality is there and we are delivering. For over £8, we need the proper quality of the wine to really come through. If someone is buying an over-£8 bottle then they know their wine, so we need to make sure we get that right."

Mike Matthews: Why we should take a leap of faith into the unusual

Richard Siddle: have we got news for you...

Published:  11 October, 2013

When Lennon & McCartney wrote the famous line "I read the news today, oh boy" way back in 1967 the chances are it would have been in the pages of a newspaper. If they had been penning that lyric today, then "the news" could have come from Twitter, Facebook,  a mobile app, a YouTube video, or a link to a website anywhere in the world.

"We have a £100m opportunity in wine..."

Published:  08 October, 2013

Having been born and brought up in the north you know what to expect when visiting Morrisons. I certainly wasn't disappointed when I walked into the, unsurprisingly, spick-and-span Morrisons next door to its headquarters in Bradford last week. Dry ice floated across the fresh fruit and veg, and the usual line-up of mini emporia selling fresh meat and baked goods were all there along the back wall. Gondola ends were filled with good northern favourites like Batchelors Bigga marrowfat peas and boxes of snowballs.
