What do we mean by the word ‘Burgundian’? Used indiscriminately to describe a region that is famously – almost defiantly – complex, it’s a term that covers so many appellations, terroirs and styles as to be almost meaningless, especially when it comes to white Burgundy. Are we talking Chablis, Côte de Beaune or the Mâconnais? Les Clos, Montrachet or Vers Cras? And what about producers? To take only one example, Arnaud Ente, Comtes Lafon and Roulot are three very famous domaines in Meursault that all have their own distinctive house style.
