Published:  14 August, 2013

What the 100 most influential figures involved in French wine in the UK think of the category will be a central focus of the Harpers France Summit in October.

Over the coming weeks Harpers will be carrying out a detailed survey of the key buyers, distributors, retailers and influencers in French wine in the UK as part of its France 100 project. (See francesummit.com for more information.)

Twenty key figures have been identified across the four key trade channels, each of whom will be asked to take part in the survey with the results revealed at the France Summit which takes place on October 22 at St Ermin's Hotel in London.

The France 100 is made up of the top influencers within:
* multiple/specialists
* independent merchants
* sommeliers
* importers/distributors

The France 100 will also be asked to cast their votes in Harpers inaugural French Wine Awards which will also be announced at the France Summit. The awards are also open to members of the trade to nominate themselves and those entries will be considered alongside the nominations put forward by the France 100 panel. To enter simply state in less than 500 words why you think yourself or your business deserves this award.

The categories in the French Wine Awards include: Best Supermarket; Best Independent (up to three stores and three stores and over); Best French Restaurant/Wine List; Best French Distributor/Supplier; Best French wine communicator/amabassador; Best French wine writer/critic.

The French summit will also include a series of masterclasses, including two presented by Master Sommelier, Gerard Basset MW and a series of debates and open tastings with our partners. To register and for more information go to francesummit.com
