New "affordable" steak and lobster chain to launch in Southend

Bourgee is a new chain of so-called affordable "luxury steak and lobster restaurants" which is opening the first of its new outlets in Southend in September. 

The new chain is headed up by a Great British Master Chef, Mark Baumann, and will be unveiling its £1 million flagship restaurant on Southend's seafront next month with more to follow in 2015.

First restaurant to open in Southend

It is targeting areas of the country with large potential "footfall, regeneration, investment and growth" and sees Essex as ticking all those boxes.

Bourgee will offer a small, concise menu focusing on the demand for steak and lobster combinations with meat and fish sourced from the UK.

James Welling co-owners of Bourgee said: "We are thrilled to finally see our vision of the Bourgee concept launch in the UK and are confident that our innovative menus, sumptuous and vibrant destinations coupled with our sensible pricing strategy will strike a chord with diners across the country."
