Absolut Vodka releases friend finding app
Tired of losing your friends at the bar? There is an app for that. Absolut, the iconic Pernod Ricard vodka brand, released the Buddy Check app in November on iTunes and will be releasing an Android application on Google Play in early 2014.
The Buddy Check application allows users to keep track of friends in crowded bars and other packed venues. Buddy Check works by 'bumping', or gently tapping, participants smartphones together that are in the same group. The geolocation functionality allows everyone in the group to keep track of one another and quickly find members of the group.
The application also comes with additional features including a messaging feature, a geofence feature to keep the group together and timed buddy check ins.
The application is free and is at the iTunes App Store. The app uses similar technology that is used with the Find My Friend application, but you are able to bump phones and the GPS data is then deleted once the session ends.
