Rioja Tapas Fantasticas returns to London's Southbank

Rioja Tapas Fantasticas - a celebration of Rioja wine, Spanish food and culture is to return to London’s Southbank this month.

Now in its fourth year, visitors will be offered the opportunity to sample and buy wines from over thirty Rioja wineries, and try tapas dishes from pop-up stalls representing some of the capital's best Spanish restaurants.

Wine experts Olly Smith and Susy Atkins will be hosting a series of Rioja wine workshops and wine walks throughout the weekend, educating consumers on the diverse range of wines from the region, as well as co-hosting live cookery demonstrations with top Spanish chef José Pizarro.

Also chef and sommelier team from Spanish restaurant Ibérica will also be taking to the stage to host a food and wine matching session.

Several Rioja wineries will be making their Tapas Fantasticas debut this year, including Martínez Laorden and Rioja Vega, with new restaurant exhibitors confirmed for this year including Barrica and Number 22.

Organised by Wines from Rioja, the festival moved to Potters Field Park, in 2010 to accommodate the increasing number of visitors.

Wines from Rioja account director Anna Harris-Noble, said: “Last year’s move to the iconic Tower Bridge location was very well-received by exhibitors and visitors alike.

“We anticipate that this year will build on this success, and once again provide an excellent platform to engage consumers in Rioja wines.”

It will take place on the weekend of June 25 and 26.
