The International Wine Challenge has launched an iPhone Application that includes all the medal winners in the 2009 competition.

The International Wine Challenge has launched an iPhone Application that includes all the medal winners in the 2009 competition.

It is the first time the winning wines have been made available in this format and the IWC hopes it will prove to be a useful and easy guide for consumers to search the database of medal winners at the touch of a screen.

It has been produced in conjunction with Elliot & Thomson, publishers of the IWC's World's Best Wines Guide 2009/10. It will allow iPhone users to search for wines by country and then by wine region and will include a short background to each wine producing country.

Alternatively you can search by wine style or colour, be it red, white, sparkling, rosé with the scope for more specific searches such as Botryis, Fortified, Madeira, Port, Sake or sweet.

The results are shown in medal order, from trophy winners to gold, silver and bronze medals and include the wines full details and price. You can also search by grape variety or by stockist allowing users to search for winning wines whilst in the aisle of their local retailer.

Each wine listing includes a picture of the label, its country of origin, grape variety, alcohol level, retail price, tasting note from the IWC judges, full stockist details and a link to their website.

Inclusion for medal and trophy winners in the IWC iPhone App is free. The download will be available in February. For more details contact Chris Ashton, chris.ashton@willliam-reed.co.uk, at the IWC.
