Lanchester Wine Cellars launch brand in 187ml bottle

Published:  29 July, 2009

The ever diminishing size of wine bottles as a result of the recession sees Lanchester Wine Cellars launch its new 187ml bottle size and brand, Inspiral.

Based in the North East of England, Lanchester Wine Cellars has invested over a million pounds into its latest product which will allow the company to protect and further create jobs at their Co. Durham facility.

Inspiral red, white and rosé varietal wines will initially be available in the 187ml spiral shaped bottles which are designed to attract attention.

The wines will be from New World vineyards, initially from South Africa, but will be quickly expanded to include those from Chile and Australia.

Lanchester Wine Cellars managing director Tony Cleary said: "We wanted to give the wine drinker something different; not just a different wine but a totally new experience that shouts out from the shelves. The best way to do that is to make something visually appealing. We were also aware of concerns from several areas about the carbon footprint of wine so we decided to tackle that issue head-on as well."

Inspiral are PET fully recyclable plastic bottles with reduced weight, reduced emissions and a reduced carbon footprint. They are also shatterproof.

The wine is available in 187ml bottles following the new EU ruling that 187ml bottles may now be sold in any retail environment. Previously, outlets were restricted to 250ml and above.
