Pernod Ricard returns strong sales

Pernod Ricard has returned a 9.1% increase in sales to 6,443 million for the financial year to June 30, 2007. Operating profit was up 21% 1,447 million and net profit was 831 million up 30%.

The strong results meant the groups was able to significantly increase advertising and promotional expenditure. New campaigns were introduced as part of the the Allied Domecq takeover for Ballantine's, Beefeater and Stolichnaya.

The 15 strategic brands attracted more than 70% of marketing expenditure and 90% of growth in the 2006/07 financial year.
