Whole Foods denies last orders for in-store pub

Published:  23 July, 2008

Happy hours and drinks deals at The Bramley, the in-store pub at the upmarket Whole Foods Market in London's Kensington, is not in response to poor trade, harper.co.uk was told.

Commenting on a newspaper report that the bar in the top-floor foodcourt of the ethically- and environmentally-aware grocer was suffering, a Whole Food spokesperson said it was "pure speculation".

Just one month after opening, The Bramley is advertising 1 off drinks from 12pm-2pm and 5pm-7pm.

"We are doing happy hours because we believe they are a genuine attraction to customers, not because there's any concern about our sales," she said.

The 7,500 sq m store is first European outlet of the 2.85 billion organic American Whole Foods franchise.
