Bodegas Fabre reports “exceptional vintage”

Published:  01 May, 2019

Bodegas Fabre has said its 2019 vintage in Mendoza has benefitted from excellent conditions at its vineyards in the Uco Valley and Lujan de Cuyo.

It said the “exceptional weather conditions of the 2019 vintage” meant it was able to harvest in both vineyards at the same time, which “isn’t normally the case” and that head winemaker and owner Herve J.Fabre was able to achieve “excellent levels of maturity”.

Bodegas Fabre, which produces the Viñalba range, said Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional, which have a longer ripening cycle, particularly benefitted. It was also able to harvest Malbecs at the “peak of their maturity with greats levels of sugar and an excellent level of acidity”.

Fabre won the 2018 IWC Red Winemaker of the year and was the first winemaker to create a premium single varietal Malbec in Argentina.

He said: "This year we benefited from a very good climate throughout the harvest without any rain and with relatively mild temperatures. This enabled us to have an extended harvest from the last week of February until the end of April. I’m very pleased with the result.”
