Three Spanish wine producers join forces to offer ‘unique’ wines

Published:  01 May, 2018

Three Spanish wine producers have joined forces to offer UK wholesalers, on-trade operators and independents an opportunity to source a unique portfolio of wine from the country.

The Three Amigos, which has appointed UK distributor North South Wines to provide logistical, administrative and sales support, comprises three British-born Spanish wine producers with a combined total of 62 years experience in the international wine industry.

As a combined force, the producers were able offer a comprehensive portfolio of wines from across Spain, each suited to differing requirements in variety, style or price, with “consistently excellent quality” to the UK market, said the trio.

“Together, we are stronger – we’ve got many bases covered, from competitively priced volume-drivers, to wine list classics based on variety or region, through to some really quirky interest-drivers. Plus, we’re not knocking on doors with the same old brands that everybody has seen before,” said co-founder Harry Hunt – a Plumpton College graduate producing wines in Andalucía.

UK buyers will be able to source full or mixed pallets from The Three Amigos, direct from the bodega or from one convenient pick-up point in northern Spain, where all the wines in the portfolio will be stocked.

Alternatively, case orders can be delivered promptly throughout the UK from stock held by North South Wines at London City Bond.

The aim of The Three Amigos was to work closely with UK buyers to supply a range of Spanish wines that was a perfect fit for their requirements, whilst also being flexible in offering a service level that’s the right match for their business model, added Hunt, who founded the project with Robert Hunter, who has lived and worked in the wine industry in and around Barcelona since 1989, and Simon Tyrrell who has spent more than 25 years working in wine.

Joy Edmondson, buying and marketing director at North South Wines, said: “It’s been great fun working with the Three Amigos on the launch of this new project. Robert, Harry and Simon have a fantastic knowledge of Spanish wines and some real points of interest in their combined range, from a pale-dry Provence-style rose from Cariñena to a high-altitude Tempranillo Syrah from Andalucía, and there are more exciting wines on the way.”
