Exton Park claims first for UK fizz with Quebec launch

Published:  27 March, 2018

Exton Park Vineyard has revealed its Rosé NV is setting sails for Quebec, Canada.

The Hampshire-based sparkling wine producer said it had won a listing for the bubbles with ‘Société des alcools du Québec’ (SAQ) in the predominantly French-speaking province of Quebec, on Canada’s Eastern seaboard.

The listing would make Exton Park the first English fizz to launch in the state-run liquor stores, claimed Exton Park.

“This is an incredibly exciting step for us and we really hope the Quebecois will take Exton Park to their hearts,” said sales and marketing manager, Kit Ellen.

It was no easy feat to get listed by the SAQ, he added.

“We are however confident that the elegant and versatile Rosé NV will do well there, particularly with the abundance of fresh Canadian produce on the doorstep,” said Ellen.

Exton Park’s local MP for the Meon Valley, George Hollingberry, said: “It is excellent news that a wine from Hampshire has been chosen to represent Great Britain in Quebec – it’s vital to build these international trade links and fly the flag for Britain as the interest in English sparkling wine spreads across the world.

The first Exton Park Rosé NV bottles leave English shores in early April 2018 and are expected to hit shelf in Quebec at the beginning of May.
