North South Wines appoints Kim Wilson as its first MD

Published:  16 January, 2018

North South Wines has appointed its commercial director Kim Wilson to MD with immediate effect.

Wilson, one of the founders of the business, will in her new role head up the management team, which includes fellow company founders Joy Edmondson - buying and marketing director, and Hamish Gillespie - finance and operations director.

The appointment marks the first MD for North South Wines, which had until now been headed up by its three directors, including Wilson who held the role of commercial director for the past four years.

Having proven a “natural leader”, Wilson had the necessary skills to take the company to the next level, said Victor De Bortoli, shareholder and director.

“Since the beginning Kim has very much been the driving force behind North South Wines and, in these exciting times for the company, we are confident that it will be in good hands going forward,” he said.

Set up in 2014, North South Wines had experienced "rapid growth" since launch and was on track to break one million nine litre case sales in 2018, he added.

Wilson said: “In the past four years we have worked hard to build solid foundations. We have a great team on the ground in the UK and fantastic partnerships with our wineries and producer shareholders. I am excited to be in this new role and looking forward to seeing what we will achieve in the next four years.”

The announcement comes ahead of North South Wines February portfolio tastings, where a selection of newcomers to the portfolio will be shown, including Paxton Wines, Reh Kendermann and Mont Gras.
