Savage Vines expands subscription service with new duo format

Published:  17 November, 2017

Savage Vines has added a duo pack to its online wine subscription service to keep the sales momentum of its exclusively sourced wines going.

The new two-pack format, which makes its debut as part of the company’s November delivery, joins the original three-pack launched in September.

Priced £29.95, compared to the £42 for the original trio, the smaller format had been introduced in response to consumer demand, said co-founder Raul Diaz, who set up Savage Vines with business partner Kyle Paskett to provide wine lovers with an online free-delivery subscription service offering members “not just wines but a lifestyle”.

Setting itself apart from existing online wine subscription businesses with its array of additional benefits, such as exclusive restaurant deals with some of London’s hippest establishments and attractive rates on accommodation with partner wineries, Diaz said initial reaction to the service had been “really positive”, with the two-pack part of “big plans” to continue growing savagevines.co.uk.

“We listened to our customers and that was key to introducing the new smaller format, which provides more flexibility and will, with less amount of wine per month, appeal to members who drink less,” he said.

Plans to grow the business further included opening a wine bar/shop where subscribers would get access to “very attractively” priced wine by the glass or to take home, added Diaz.

In addition, Savage Vines is launching its first advertising push next week, including underground ads offering commuters the chance to get a free set of four crystal wine glasses with their first order.

The aim was to have 20,000 members by the end of the company’s first year, said Diaz, adding the privately-financed business would be looking to raise capital in Q1 next year to facilitate growth plans.

The new venture follows Diaz launching WineTraining LTD in the first half of 2015.

Later that year he partnered with industry veteran John Davey to launch Hospitality Workshops - a service and wine training programme for the on-trade.
