Published:  23 July, 2008

On Tuesday night (5th July) Floridita, London was awarded Best New Bar, at the London Club and Bar Awards held at the Riverbank Plaza Hotel, Albert Embankment, London.
The awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrated the cream of London's nightlife for both bars and clubs.

Brian Bendix, and Michael Scalera of Floridita collected the award which is shared jointly with Fifty and St. James.

The award mirrors the achievement of the original Floridita in Havana, which was named one of the world's top restaurants by Esquire magazine in 1953. Often referred to as the birthplace of the daiquiri', El Floridita hosted the great and the glamorous of Hollywood. Constante, Floridita's eponymous bartender created the Papa Double, a double daiquiri especially for their most loyal patron, Ernest Hemmingway.

Since opening in October 2004, Floridita Restaurant and Bar, has established itself as one of London's leading nightspots, offering the very best of Cuban music, cocktails, cigars and food in glamorous surroundings.

Cuban musicians flown directly from Havana provide Cuban rhythms while an extensive cocktail list features a range of classic and contemporary cocktails, where daiquiris and mojitos take top billing.

Floridita has hosted a wide range of high profile events, including the post premiere parties for both Hitch' and Guys and Dolls'.
