Former Distell brand director takes over as chair of WOSA
Wines of South Africa has announced a new a new appointment to the role of non-executive chair.
Freelance business consultant and wine marketing specialist Carina Gous was appointed at the recent forth-term board meeting.
She replaces financial entrepreneur, Michael Jordaan who completed three years before resigning in September to pursue other interests.
The new chair of the export and promotions body is a former brand director at South African-based drinks giant Distell where she played a key role in developing new still and sparkling wine brands the company.
She also took on the role as chief executive of Distell Vineyards & Estates (DVE) and launched Heritage Heroes collection created by the Nederburg cellar team.
She will work in tandem with WOSA CEO Siobhan Thompson on plans and proposals.
Thompson said: “I am very excited to work with Carina and draw from her extensive knowledge of the industry and marketing in international markets, in order to help guide the Wines of South Africa strategy.”
