Phelps donates $100,000 to Napa and Sonoma relief efforts

Published:  25 October, 2017

Napa winery Joseph Phelps Vineyards has donated $100,000 through its Phelps Foundation to support fire relief efforts in the area following the devastating wildfires.

Phelps said the funds would be divided among the Napa Valley Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund, the Redwood Credit Union Community Fund North Bay Fire Relief: Sonoma County and the Sonoma Humane Society.

Additionally, Joseph Phelps said it would match dollar-for-dollar donations put forth by its employees to these relief organizations.

“Our hearts go out to those displaced by these horrific fires and we are committed to providing support in the healing and rebuilding of our community,” said executive chairman, Bill Phelps.

Earlier this month, members of the UK drinks trade, including California specialist Roberson Wine, started rallying around to gather funds for immediate relief as well as lay the groundwork for recovery.

Multinationals have also reached out to California, including tech giants Apple, Google and Facebook, which have pledged a combined $2.5m to relief efforts.
