Pickering’s Gin and Edinburgh Festival Fringe toast 70 years with limited edition

Published:  20 July, 2017

Craft distiller Pickering's Gin has teamed up with Edinburgh Festival Fringe to celebrate their joint 70th anniversaries with a limited edition bottle of its Bombay spirit.

Available now, the one-off run of 650 bottles has been distilled precisely to the original Bombay gin recipe exactly 70 years on from its creation, with the label featuring distinctive Edinburgh Festival Fringe labelling.

Pickering’s co-founder, Matt Gammell, said the distillery was confident the old recipe, which includes cinnamon, would be a “gratefully received” by fans of the gin and Fringe alike.

“We know how important heritage, dedication and time is when it comes to making good gin and the same could be said when explaining the success of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.”

The limited edition Pickering's Original 1947 gin is available to buy (rsp: £29.95/70cl) via the Pickering’s Gin website.

The old Bombay recipe came into the possession of the distillery’s founders – Gammell and Marcus Pickering, in 2013. In the years since, the small central Edinburgh distillery – the first exclusive gin distillery to be established in the Scottish capital for more than 150 years - has brought Bombay-style gin back to life by modernising, ageing, distilling, bottling, labelling and waxing a range of gins by hand.
