Armit unveils rare vintage release from La Rioja Alta

Published:  23 January, 2017

Armit Wines has announced the release of the 2007 Gran Reserva 904 from La Rioja Alta, which will be available from 25 January.

The Gran Reserva 904 commemorates the merger of La Rioja Alta with the Ardanza winery in 1904. It is only released in exceptional vintages.

The 2007 growing season in Rioja was unusually long, producing highly aromatic and complex wines, which have a good balance of alcohol, phenolic concentration and freshness.

The 2007 Gran Reserva 904 is a blend of 90% Tempranillo from 60-year-old vines, and 10% Graciano. It was matured for four years in old American casks before four more years of maturation in bottle.

Armit Wines is based in Notting Hill and has a second office in Hong Kong.

Exclusive agencies include Italy's Ornellaia, Tenuta San Guido and Bruno Giacosa, as well as Château Lafleur and Domaine Leflaive.

It recently added Champagne Geoffroy to its grower Champagne portfolio, having seen exceptional sales for Champagne Gimonnet through 2015. Recent new Californian wineries to the company's listings include Hanzell Vineyards in Sonoma, Stony Hill in Napa Valley, and The Hobo Wine Company in Santa Rosa.
