In case you missed some of the headlines this week on harpers.co.uk, we have put together a review of the top online news, Q&As, and opinion stories.

Most Read: Some looking back and ahead this week as everyone dusts off the Christmas cobwebs gets into the groove of 2017. 

The top topics included English wine, which was heralded as the success story of 2016 and is lined up for more success in 2017, with partnerships like the Oxbridge Boat Race sure to guarantee more publicity for domestic wines. 

Christmas Trading: There was some breath-holding occurring this week as the on- and off-trade waits to discover if Christmas 2016 is cause for celebration. 

Early reports are positive, with Be At One bar group feeding back a record-breaking couple of weeks. 

There are also some indications that Champagne may have trounced Prosecco in the battle to become the New Year's drink of choice, although the picture will become more clear as the month continues and official figures are released.  

People and Opinion: Some of the leading figures in South American Wine accompanied Harpers on a trip to the Southern Hemisphere to discover more about Bodega Garzón and Uruguayan wines.
