Jackson Family Wines appoints new sales director to drive European expansion

Published:  02 August, 2016

A Californian winery has appointed a new European sales director as part of its expansion plan.

Jackson Family Wines has appointed Warren Adamson as sales director for Europe, following a period in which the family-owned company has seen "strategic growth" across the European market.

The UK is currently the brand's biggest export market in Europe and the second biggest globally behind Canada.

Adamson will be in charge of fine-tuning and growing the distribution network in northern Europe.

"What we want to do is to work smarter with our distributors and be able to respond faster. We're not looking to change what we're doing but to continue to build on what we've got. There's definitely room for us to build our brand and expand into more restaurants and indies in the UK, which is the where the majority of our presence is," he said.

Jackson Family Wineries currently exports 25 of its 50 wines to the UK.

Adamson is based in the United Kingdom and will be responsible for managing distributors across the region.

He joined Jackson Family Wines four weeks ago from Craggy Range Vineyards Ltd (based in London) where he began in 2009 as a business manager for Europe and Middle East & Africa before being promoted to global sales director.

Over the last four years as global sales director he was a member of the management team responsible for all elements of global sales spearheading the direction of the business.

Adamson has previously worked for New Zealand Winegrowers covering the UK and European markets and Villa Maria Estate working in London and Wellington.

Jackson Family Wines is a collection of premium wineries owned privately by Barbara Banke and the Jackson family.

Over the years, the Banke-Jackson family has assembled a portfolio of vineyards and wineries along California's cool coastal ridges, stretching northwards from Santa Barbara up through Monterey, Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties, and continuing into Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Internationally, Jackson Family Wines owns estates in St. Emilion, Tuscany, McLaren Vale and Chile.

Each winery has its own winemaker, vineyards, varietal focus and and a focus on terroir.
