Copestick Murray's 2015 financial results deliver 'best ever year'

Published:  09 May, 2016

Copestick Murray has posted its 'best ever year' with sales and profit for its year-end financial results setting records for the company.

Sales increased £7.3 million to £30,474,159 with profit hitting £882,667 for 2015 with a increased focus on export markets helping to drive sales.

"We are very happy with our 2015 numbers and they are in line with our ambitions. It is no secret that the UK is a tough market place for companies like ours but we have benefited greatly from increased export sales," said managing director Robin Copestick.

The company's I Heart wine range and the its growing Prosecco brand Mionetto increased in volumes in 2015 compared to 2014 helped to deliver the strong results.

"The growth was largely on the the back of the company's two drive brands Mionetto and I Heart. Mionetto outpaced the high achieving UK Prosecco market, more than doubling its 2014 volumes. I Heart continued to gain listings among national retailers and grew volumes 48%," according to the company's financial statements.

Looking forward the company does appear to be diversifying and growing in foreign markets as the margins in the UK and in the multiple retailer environment continue to face downward pressures.

"We opened an office in Dublin and while the U.K. remains central to our growth plans we are aware that our diversity is our strength. We are a direct supplier, a brand owner, a brand creator, an importer, a distributor, an agent and we have now sales in thirty different countries," said Copestick.

But despite the challenges in the UK Copestick said that the brands within their portfolio will be able to capitalise on the consolidation that is currently going on.

Copestick said: "I am extremely happy with the performance of the company in all its different areas and I am very confident that this growth and diversity will continue in 2016 and beyond. The UK supply base will become ever more consolidated and we are in a great position to benefit from this consolidation."

Copestick Murray had a sales turnover of £23,131,620 with an operating profit of £583,773 in 2014.
