Over 14,000 gin and tonic pairings at London's "largest" gin bar

Published:  19 April, 2016

Holborn Dining Room's newly opened The Gin Bar is claiming to have London's biggest selection of gins and tonics.

London's newest gin joint is positioning itself as a gin-lovers paradise and fans of the drink will be able to sample 400 different gins on it's copper-topped bar.

The hundreds of gins and 27 types of branded tonic on offer has led management to boast of the 14,035 possible pairings, which might lead some to wonder just how many are necessary for one bar.

The 28th tonic has been created by bartender Matthew Sloper and the team at Holborn Dining Room.

It is the bar's signature tonic made from an in-house recipe, although they are holding their cards close to their chest as to the ingredients.

The bar, which opened yesterday, is based at the Rosewood London, and is an extension of Holborn Dining Room's quintessentially British theme.

Sloper said: "We always want to have a strong British feeling in everything we do at Holborn Dining Room so why not work with the most celebrated UK spirit? At over 400 gins and counting, we have the largest selection of gin in London which is really exciting, especially when coupled with the 27 different tonics, including our top-secret homemade tonic."

Prices range from £9 for Rathbone London Dry, to £52 for the rare 1950s Taplows London Dry Gin.

The bar features more than 100 gins distilled in the UK, such as Jinzu and Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin.

British brasserie Holborn Dining Room is based in the Rosewood London hotel and serves seasonal, locally sourced British cuisine "with a modern twist".
