Fine wine merchant Armit Wines has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Friuli winery Castello di Buttrio.

The new partnership forms part of a wider strategic review at Armit, which will see a wider range of premium Italian white wines and varietals indigenous to northern Italy added to its list.

Grape varieties grown on the 26-ha estate including Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Pignolo, Refosco and Verduzo, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Castello di Buttrio is situated in the Colli Orientali not far from Udine.

Bought by the Felluga family in 1994, it has expanded in the last ten years to include vineyards in Dorigo too.

Edwina Watson, buyer at Armit Wines, said: "I was thrilled to discover Alessandra Felluga's wonderful wines and property in Friuli.  It is a unique estate with a special place in the history of the region.

"The commitment of the Felluga family is unparalleled and I am very proud to bring these elegant, distinctive wines to the attention of our private and trade customers and to further build the reputation of Armit Wines' comprehensive Italian portfolio."

Alessandra Felluga said: "We are very pleased to begin our relationship with Armit Wines who have consistently represented some of the best wineries in the world.

"Their Italian portfolio is unrivalled and we look forward to being a part of it."

Castello di Buttrio will be exhibited at Armit's Italian tasting at St Luke's, 161 Old Street, London, EC1V 9NG on March 3.

They are available now to order.
