Spar adds to wine range and changes to EDLP model for exclusive Champagne

Published:  02 September, 2015

Spar is to move its Marquis Belrive Champagne to an everyday low pricing model.

The exclusive label fizz will have an ongoing EDLP rrp of £16 from October.

The move is part of a package of developments in the convenience group's own-brand wine range as it gears up for the busy Christmas season.

Spar is also releasing a 20cl bottle and chocolates gift pack (rrp £5) for its Perlezza Prosecco brand, which it claims is the best-selling Prosecco in the convenience sector.

A magnum bottle will be released on October 22 with an rrp of £14.

The group has released seven new wines under the Spar label: French Malbec, Rosé d'Anjou, Verdicchio Classico, Muscadet Sur Lie Sevre & Maine, Castillo de la Mota Rueda Verdejo, Rios de los Andes Argentine Malbec and Valpolicella Ripasso.

Chris Lewis, Spar UK licensed trading director, said: "We have had some fantastic success with our constantly-evolving wine range and our recent achievement with Perlezza is something we want to build on with all these new launches."
