Maison Sichel banks on 2008 vintage of Pessac-Léognan's Chateau Olivier

Published:  25 August, 2015

Maison Sichel has bought the entire remaining stock of Cru Classé Bordeaux estate Chateau Olivier's 2008 vintage wine.

The company's export director Charles Sichel said it was convinced the AOC Pessac-Léognan wine represented one of the best and most affordable vintages of recent times.

Sichel said: "2008 was an excellent vintage but didn't get the praise it deserved at the time.

"It has been reappraised and currently offers wonderful, affordable drinking.

"The wines are ready now and Olivier is just a perfect example of quality and approachability.

"We believe it is vital for Bordeaux to provide the trade and consumers with this kind of wine and we are putting our money where our mouth is."

Robert Parker said in his en primeur tasting notes that the 2008 vintage was "dramatically better than I had expected".
