Bordeaux brand Mouton Cadet tees off with golf deal at the Open

Published:  17 July, 2015

Bordeaux wine brand Mouton Cadet is the official wine supplier to The Open golf tournament which started yesterday and reaches a climax on Sunday.

The brand has signed a three-year deal with the tournament which is this year taking place at the famous St Andrews course in Scotland.

Mouton Cadet is already the official wine supplier to golf's European Tour and the Ryder Cup, which it marked last year with the sale of a limited edition Ryder Cup Cuvée in the top-end of the off-trade.

Hugues Lechanoine, chief executive officer of brand owner Baron Philippe de Rothschild (pictured left), said: "Mouton Cadet's association with golf is a natural fit.

"For 85 years Mouton Cadet has been producing high quality wines to bring pleasure to consumers around the world, and since 1860 The Open has been producing a legacy of great international Champions."

Michael Tate, executive director for business affairs at the R&A (right), which runs the tournament, added: "The Championship is one of the world's great sporting events and enjoys a unique position in golf just as Mouton Cadet does as a wine producer."

Mouton Cadet is distributed by Sogrape UK.
