Green & Pleasant lands cider and golden ale to expand craft range

Published:  15 July, 2015

A craft beer brand sold at the Ritz in London is branching out into cider.

Green & Pleasant has added the natural cider made on a Herefordshire farm and a microbrewed golden ale to its core lager brand.

The lager is the house brew at the Ritz's Rivoli Bar in the West End, as well as Mews of Mayfair and the Notting Hill bar Portobello Star. It's also on the list at Soho House, while its 2.5% abv Lemon Shandy is sold at Tate Modern.

The cider is being made at Ledbury-based producer Wilces from locally-sourced apples.

Master cider maker Brian Wilce said: "We've been making cider on the farm for 30 years, with six generations of cider makers.

"We use 34 varieties of apples - all genuine Herefordshire cider apples. Our cider is a pure juice product, there's no need to add anything but time: seven months fermentation."

Green & Pleasant's Golden Ale is made at Quartz Brewing, a microbrewery in rural Staffordshire.
