Glenfiddich appoints new UK brand ambassador Mark Thomson

Published:  08 December, 2014

William Grant-owned Scotch whisky Glenfiddich has appointed Mark Thomson as its new UK brand ambassador.

Thomson who has over 14 years experience in the drinks trade said: "I am thrilled to be the latest addition to the Glenfiddich team."

Thomson's past experience in the trade includes hosting educational training programmes for the on and off-trade, as well as masterclasses and tasting events for several other whisky brands.

"There are exciting things going on in the whisky category at the moment, so it's a great time to join Glenfiddich and help further cement its status in the UK. We have some very interesting new projects in the pipeline and I'm really looking forward to bringing these to life over the coming months," said Thomson.

Thomson also worked with Glenfiddich previously on projects like its Malt Mastermind bartender competition where he was a judge in 2013 and 2014.

Thomson can be reached on twitter at @DramWhiskyMark.

Senior brand manager for Glenfiddich, Sarah Harding, said: "Mark has a compelling enthusiasm and passion for Glenfiddich and for the Scotch malt category as a whole, which makes him the perfect candidate for this role."

Glenfiddich recently underwent a 'facelift' and had its iconic stag logo updated. The new logo rolled out in late October. Last month the brand also launched an online gallery giving whisky fans access to purchase rare and unreleased single malts.

Glenfiddich is produced by William Grant & Sons, founded by William Grant in 1886. The company distils several brands of Scotch whisky, including Grant's, Glenfiddich, and The Balvenie single malts, as well as selected other spirits, including Hendrick's Gin.
