Online retailer Virgin Wines has teamed up with Accolade Wines' Australian brand Hardys to create a new range especially for Virgin's customers.

Virgin prides itself on offering wines that can't be found elsewhere - with 90% of its wines exclusive to the retailer.

The new range, called the Chronicles, charts the journey of founder Thomas Hardy's arrival in the wine trade. Each wine was created by the brand's chief winemaker, Paul Lapsley, and the selection includes a Shiraz and Chardonnay, plus three special blends known as Hardys Chronicle No.1, No.2 and No.3. Chronicles will only be available through Virgin.

Hardys' brand ambassador and fifth generation family member, Bill Hardy said: "We're excited to be teaming up with Virgin Wines, a company that shares our very same entrepreneurial values and passion for wine. Hardys 'The Chronicles' is a special range, inspired by my great, great grandfather's experiences before he founded the Hardys wine company".

Virgin Wines chief executive Jay Wright, said: "We're confident that by combining their experience with our passion, we can create a range of wines our customers will absolutely love. It was important for us to partner with someone who shared our key values and we know we've found that with Hardys. We're very excited for our customers to be able to experience an exclusive range of wines that you simply can't find anywhere else".

Virgin Wines has been busy recently - yesterday it announced its intentions to ramp up its gifting focus with the aim of becoming the Interflora of the wine world. Earlier in October it revealed plans to ratchet up its home wine tasting parties by adding new recruits and rebranding from Fabulous Wines to Wines at Mine after seeing sales grow 54% in the past year.

Virgin Wines was launched in 2000 and sources its range of boutique wines from talented, passionate winemakers from around the world. The company sells over 600,000 cases of wine to 150,000 customers around the UK.  Over 90% of its wines are exclusive to the business.
