International Wine Challenge prepares to showcase top wines at Taste of Gold event

Published:  12 June, 2014

Wine lovers, be they trade or consumer, can sample the International Wine Challenge's gold-medal winning wines and mingle with expert judges at next week's A Taste of Gold event in London.

The annual Taste of Gold event gets underway on June 26, 2014 at Lindley Hall, The Royal Horticultural Halls in London.

The tasting is open exclusively to the trade during the day, from 12 pm to 5 pm. Beginning at 6 pm, doors open to the general public to allow consumers to enjoy the medal-winning wines.

A Taste of Gold also offers consumers an opportunity to taste with several respected experts in the UK wine trade. Tim Atkin MW, Oz Clarke, Sam Harrop MW, Peter McCombie MW and Charles Metcalfe, the five IWC co-chairmen, will be on hand tasting with consumers and explaining why some of the winners were selected.

All five experts will also be hosting 'Wine Walks' for the public throughout the evening, with each co-chairman walking the first-come, first-served, groups of 12 through different wine regions of the world. Registration at the event is strongly encouraged.

Holly Bellingham of Sumaridge Estate Wines, who returns following last year's event, said: "A Taste of Gold gave us the opportunity to showcase our wines to wine writers and buyers as well as a wide audience of informed individual consumers. If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity, I would heartily recommend presenting wines at this event."

Last year's event drew more than 300 consumers.
