Third National Wine Week to be held in build up to Christmas

Published:  31 October, 2013

A "National Wine Week" is to be run for the third time in the lead up to Christmas in the hope of bringing focused consumer and media attention to the category.

This year's National Wine Week will run between December 2 and December 8 and will be largely concentrated on a major consumer facing promotional campaign in over 100 national, regional and on-line media. This will be supported by in-store and in-outlet promotions in retailers, pubs and on-trade chains. The focus will be on education and helping consumers make more informed choices about what wines they drink and will not be around and not be around promoting deals.

But also includes the opportunity for consumers to win 1,000 cases of wine, along with wine education material in a special competition held during the week.

The initiative's trade website includes straplines including: Educate and Refocus - it is better for consumers, better for the market and better for wine brands.

And "Help us to Help you - why? Because the market needs it."

The week's activity is being run wine promotional consultancy, Brand Belief, that also organised the Get Wine Wise promotion. It claims National Wine Week has the potential to reach 2 million ABC1 'wine consuming' aware adults and engage with 500,000 people via social media and the National Wine Week consumer website - www.nationalwineweek.co.uk. More trade information is available at www.nationalwineweek.info.

Planned events include large scale wine tastings at two mainline rail stations during the week which it hopes will see up to 20,000 consumers sampling wine.
