Cornwall's Knightor winery releases its first sparkling wine

Published:  17 October, 2013

Cornish winery Knightor has announced the release of its first sparkling wine, Knightor Brut NV.

The winery, which is located in south Cornwall, near St Austell, was established by Adrian Derx in 2011 and is straddled by two coastal vineyards comprising around 17,000 vines.

Knightor winemaker James Thomas believes in minimal intervention and strives to create quintessentially English wines, which are both light and highly drinkable.

Knightor Brut NV is a blend of Seyval Blanc, Reichensteiner, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Grapes were hand-picked and whole bunch pressed, before being fermented in small batches, some in old oak barriques.

Thomas said: "Our aim is to reflect the inherent characteristics of English wine and this means a lighter, more elegant style of wine."

Knightor Brut NV is available at a trade price of £16.10; for more information email info@knightor.com or call the winery on 01726 851101.
